Piece: "Untitled (Consumption)" is a self-portrait exploring the idea of the atmosphere as a blanket, and what it feels like as that blanket thickens due to the burning of fossil fuels. I wanted to personify and make intimate this suffocating gesture of the burning of fossil fuels, which so often can feel entirely cold and scientific. By putting myself directly in the position of our planet in this instance, it personally brought me much closer to feelings of tenderness surrounding this social issue.
