This piece is titled "Sprout.” A group of images generated by code, this work is inspired by my memories of the sound of leaves crushed during the fall time. I perceived at the moment that the plant sprouts in spring blended into the soil after falling down during autumn, and thus new life is incubated, which is a process repeated over and over, year after year. I want to express not only their strength, but also the tenderness and subtleness that always lies in the deep of my memories.
Rui Sha is currently an MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work is mostly engaged with new media, performance, and object. She tends to explore the possibility of unattainable wholeness in her practices, from natural born intuition to subjective sensibility. The theme always refers to the senses of tenderness and sadness that can never reach to the endpoint.
